When Top Golf was introduced in 2000 it was considered hi-tech, featuring RFID chips in the balls and target golf. These were the first golf-entertainment venues in the UK. Since the introduction of more recent ball tracking technology, however, this model has become fairly outdated and expensive. For weekends and evening play, Top Golf bays are only available for gameplay but during the daytime practice balls are available for for walk-ins midweek before 4:30pm. At these times the venue tends to be fairly quiet and the balls and mats are of average quality, however the limitations of the outfield are fairly obvious.
